I’m not going to lie, I completely forgot about part 3!!! I finished a week a ago, took all the pictures I needed to write this blog post then it completely slipped my mind until today!
I have been so busy with work, my new knitting project which I can’t share yet and another super secret project that I will post about soon once I have finalised the final details but believe me, it is super exciting and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
So back to the Fruit Garden…
Part 3 was really exciting and I know that I keep saying this every 2 weeks but with each part that gets released, I am still blown away by the detail in each piece. This part introduced the Clementine motif along with more bits added to the external Acanthus motif.

Clementine started like most other weeks but saw the introduction of larger leaves and a more complicated framework to create the remainder of the square. The leaves look really complicated but once you have done one you realise that they are super simple once you know how!! To finish off this square, some surface crochet to add detail to the centre really completes this piece. Surface crochet was not something that was new to me, but I know others from the Facebook group had not come across this before. I have to admit that once I had done the first part I was baffled by how to finish this off and had to take to YouTube to find the video that Jane had done to explain how to make this a seamless finish!! The videos on her channel are invaluable when undertaking a project like this as they do really help with the parts that are new to a crocheter!
It’s the Acanthus motif that I have been most excited about doing and I am loving the fact that we get a little part each fortnight to keep the excitement alive. We started really small on part 2 and the motif doesn’t grow much with part 3 but we added quite a significant amount to it. With this motif I am taking photos after each round so you can see how it is constructed all the way through.
I have already started part 4 and am looking forward to share this next time with you all.
Take Care
