Doesn’t time fly when you are having fun? I can’t believe it has been two weeks already. It feels like it was just yesterday I was sat here on my sofa in a writing the last about the last section of the Fruit Garden CAL. There has been so much going on here and Pete and I have been so busy. With the country starting to come out of the weirdest “lockdown” Pete and I have still not changed what we are doing. Going to work, coming home, rinse and repeat!!
Pete has been keeping busy over the last couple of weeks with a couple of orders. One of them I absolutely love as it brought back great memories from my childhood. It did make me feel old when I took it to its new home and someone didn’t know who the character was!! I mean, really, who doesn’t know Woodstock from Charlie Brown!!
He has also been going through all of the patterns he has been writing to make sure that they are ready for me to upload on to our Ravelry store. Of course I have been so busy with my multiple projects on the go, I just haven’t been able to squeeze in time to do it yet!
So on to Fruit Garden part 4…
After the last post about 2 weeks ago, I was so keen to crack on with the new section, I had already read through the pattern, watched the video tutorial on YouTube and couldn’t wait!!
As you know from last time, I was late writing the blog and had already started. My excitement with this part just grew and grew. I started with the square motifs as always and was not dissapointed. Purple Aster was this fortnights motif and is an absolutely beautiful square to add to this blanket. With the intricacy of the the flow formation a most beautiful design, paired with the complex framework behind resulting in this amazing ‘pop-out’ effect with the flower. Janie is incredibly talented in being able to create simple, yet stunning designs that result in these absolutely beautiful blankets!
The part of this section that I was most excited about was the few new rounds for the Acanthus motif. As you know, this motif is one of the edge pieces of which we are all painstakingly making 8 of!! When I say painstakingly, I mean it. It is not very often that I confused by crochet, but I have to say this section definitely blew my mind. I can’t explain how this piece so far all went together as the different rows all cross over each other and pull different parts out then they criss cross back. I was so eager to get each piece finished, I just had to stop thinking about it.
After all of that though, I have to say that I absolutely adore these motifs so far and I am sure that my love for them will only grow fonder as the weeks go on. I have as always taken pictures pf each step of this motif and you can look at the below. Let's see if you can work out how it all goes together!!
So that brings us to the end of this section. I have the next section already and have been busily reading today whilst I have been on my breaks at work. I am excited already as we are finally starting to put the blanket together now and adding the first border so come back in 2 weeks to read the next instalment.
Take Care
